Will the Minister of AYUSH be pleased to state:
(a) the number of AYUSH Health and Wellness Centres (HWCs) sanctioned across the country under the National Ayush Mission (NAM), State/UT-wise including Andhra Pradesh;
(b) the number of functional HWCs and the number of patients availing of such services at these centres so far;
(c) the details of the recent expansion of services under the scheme;
(d) the number of AYUSH Health Centres that are functioning in Madhya Pradesh along with the budget sanctioned to operate them;
(e) the number of AYUSH hospitals and dispensaries that are functioning across the country, State/UT-wise, including in Andhra Pradesh;
(f) whether the Government plans to set up any integrated AYUSH Hospital under NAM in Andhra Pradesh and if so, the details thereof; and
(g) the steps taken/proposed to be taken by the Government to link the healthcare facilities of AYUSH with the mainstream healthcare set-up?

(a) to (c) Under Centrally Sponsored Scheme of National AYUSH Mission (NAM), as per the proposals received from State/UT Governments through their State Annual Action Plans (SAAPs) including Andhra Pradesh, 12500 AYUSH facilities have been approved to be upgraded as AYUSH Health & Wellness Centres (AHWCs). As per the progress report received from the State/UT Governments, 8168 AYUSH facilities have been upgraded as AHWCs till date. The main objective of AHWCs is to establish a holistic wellness model based on AYUSH principles and practices, to empower masses for “self-care” to reduce the disease burden. At AHWCs, expanded AYUSH services is being provided in the form of preventive and promotive measures for self-care, uses of medicinal plants for self-care, management of common ailments through AYUSH system of medicines, yoga related activities etc. As reported by the State/ UT Governments, 17.22 Crore beneficiaries have availed such services at AHWCs upto October, 2023. The State/UT-wise details of approved and functional AYUSH HWCs is furnished in Annexure I.
(d) As per the proposals received from State Government of Madhya Pradesh through their State Annual Action Plans (SAAPs), 762 units of existing AYUSH dispensaries have been approved to be upgraded as AHWCs and amount of Rs. 5886.77 lakhs (central share) has been sanctioned for operationalization of these AHWCs. Further, as per the progress reports received from State Government, 562 AHWCs have been made functional till date.
(e) The number of AYUSH hospitals and dispensaries that are functioning across the country, State/UT-wise, including in Andhra Pradesh is furnished in Annexure II.
(f) Public Health being a State subject, setting up of Integrated Ayush Hospital comes under the purview of respective State/UT Governments including Andhra Pradesh. However, under the Centrally Sponsored Scheme of National Ayush Mission (NAM), there is a provision of financial assistance for setting up of 50/30/10 bedded integrated Ayush Hospitals in the country including Andhra Pradesh. Ministry of Ayush has approved two 50 bedded integrated Ayush hospitals as per the proposal submitted by the State Government of Andhra Pradesh each at Kakinada and Vishakhapatnam.
(g) Government of India has adopted a strategy of Co-location of Ayush facilities at Primary Health Centres (PHCs), Community Health Centres (CHCs) and District Hospitals (DHs), thus enabling the choice to the patients for different systems of medicines under a single window. The engagement of Ayush doctors/ paramedics and their training is supported by the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare under National Health Mission (NHM), while the support for Ayush infrastructure, equipment/ furniture and medicines are provided by the Ministry of Ayush under NAM as shared responsibilities. State/UT governments may avail the eligible financial assistance by submitting the suitable proposals through SAAPs as per the NAM guidelines.
