(a) The demand of quality seeds in the country for the last three years and current Kharif -2019 season as reported by the States is 353.49 lakh quintals in 2016-17, 371.38 lakh quintals in 2017-18 and 353.55 lakh quintals in 2018-19 and 140.36 lakh quintals for current Kharif-2019 season.
(b) In order to meet the requirement of seeds during the natural calamities like flood and drought etc., the seed of small and medium duration, stress tolerant varieties of different crops reserved in National Seed Reserve (NSR) is distributed to farmers. The details of seeds reserved in the National Seed Reserve (NSR) during last three years and current year is placed at Annexure-I.
