Guidelines for conducting Practical Examinations with the Supplementary Examination, 2023

CBSE/Co-ord/Compartment Practical/2023

As per provisions of the Scheme of Studies/Examination Bye-Laws, practical examinations are required to be conducted in respect of the following two categories of students:

(a) Students who have been placed in the Compartment category due to Repeat in Practical (RP) in any subject.

(b) Students who have been placed in the Compartment category due to Repeat in Theory and Practical Both (RB) in any subject(s).

In Class XII, a student is declared pass in a subject if securing 33% marks combining both in theory and practical and also separately .

• (i) If any student was unable to secure 33% marks in practical in main examination has been placed in the Compartment category and marked as “Repeat in Practical” (RP). Such students shall have to appear in the practical examination only in the Supplementary examinations. There is no need for such students to appear in the theory examination as their previous theory marks will be carried forward and accounted for.
• (ii) Students who have been placed in Compartment Category due to Repeat in Theory and Practical Both (RB) shall have to appear in the practical examination as well as in the theory examination in the Supplementary Examinations.

In Class X, a student is declared pass in a subject on securing 33% marks or more combining both in Theory and Internal Assessment. If a student is placed under Compartment Category and also absent in Internal Assessment , then such candidates will be awarded pro-rata marks in Internal Assessment on the basis of theory marks awarded in the supplementary examination. No Internal Assessment will be conducted for such students during the supplementary examination as Internal Assessme nt is a year-long  exercise.

The Practical  Examinations  shall  be  conducted  from  06th  July  2023  (Thursday) to 20th July  2023  (Thursday).

(a) For regular candidates , practical examinations will be conducted in their schools.

(b) For private candidates, practical examinations shall be conducted in the Examination Centres fixed for theory examinations in the Supplementary examinations. In case, if in any examination centre/school, the facility for the conduct of practical exams in a particular subject(s) is not available, the concerned Regional Office may be requested to make necessary arrangements for conducting the practical examination in such subject(s) in a nearby examination centre/school.

The Regional Offices will appoint External Examiners for all students of Class XII. Practical would be conducted only by the external examiner appointed by the CBSE. The internal examiners shall be appointed by the schools/centre superintendent from their own school teachers .

The practical answer books supplied by the Regional Offices are to be used for the conduct of the practical examination. It is to be ensured that the examiner completes all entries in practical answer books carefully and correctly.

The Schools/Examination centre where practical exams are conducted during the Supplementary Examination shall upload the marks awarded to the candidates and photograph on the portal on the same day. The marks once uploaded shall be final and no request for any change in the same will be accepted .

(a) The students/examinees who have to appear in Practical shall contact their schools/examination centres without being failed before 06 July 2023 with a copy of their result/mark sheet and admit card.

 

(b) The students/examinees shall  note the date and time of the practical examination given ,by the school/examination centre and report for the practical examination at the designated time at the venue.

(a) The School Principal/Centre Superintendent shall prepare a subject-wise list of all students whose practical examinations are to be conducted.

(b) The School Principal/Centre Superintendent shall contact the Regional Office well in advance for the appointment of external examiners where ever required.

(c) Under no circumstances the School Principal/Centre  Superintendent shall appoint external examiners on their own.

(d) The date and time of the practical examinations shall be fixed keeping in mind the availability of external examiners, the convenience of examinees and the date sheet of supplementary examinations.

(e) The students/examinees shall be informed well in advance about the date and time of conduct of examinations.

(f) The  regional  officers  shall  be  informed  about  the  plan  of  conduct  of  practical examinations 

(a) The Regional Offices shall prepare a list of all students whose  practical examinations are to be conducted , centre-wise and subject-wise.

(b) The  Regional  Offices  shall  appoint external  examiners  well  in  advance wherever required.

(c) The Regional Offices shall ensure timely completion of the practical examinations and uploading of practical marks on the portal and receipt of practical answer books in the regional office.
