NUMBER OF KENDRIYA VIDYALAYAS
(a) The total number of Kendriya Vidyalayas (KVs) that have students enrolled in the country and abroad are 1227.
(b) The teacher student ratio in KVs is 1:27.
(c) Opening of KVs is a continuous process. Proposals for opening of new KVs are considered only if sponsored by Ministries or Departments of the Government of India/State Governments / Union Territories Administrations thereby committing resources for setting up a new KV as well as the availability of necessary sanction of the Government. The proposals received from various sponsoring authorities for opening of new KVs also have to compete among other proposals under the “Challenge Method”.

(d) 76 KVs are already functioning in the State of Rajasthan. Details are annexed. In addition a new KV had been sanctioned in March, 2019 at Pratapgarh. The State Government of Rajasthan, being the sponsoring authority is required to transfer the requisite extent of land in favour of Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan and also provide the necessary temporary accommodation for running the vidyalaya before administrative orders for opening of this KV are issued.
(e) A KV at Devgarh is already functioning in the District of Rajsamand. A proposal in the prescribed proformahas been received by Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan(KVS) from the Government of Rajasthan, for opening of a new KV at Bhim, District, Rajsamand, in which neither the proposed land nor the temporary building has been found suitable as per norms of KVS.

Will the Minister of HUMAN RESOURCE DEVELOPMENT be pleased to state:
  • (a) the  total  number  of  Kendriya  Vidyalayas  (KVs)  that  have  students enrolled in the country and abroad;
  • (b) the teacher-student ratio in such Vidyalayas;
  • (c) the number of new KVs that are being opened in the country  and abroad;
  • (d) whether the Government is planning to set up new KVs in Rajasthan and if so, the details thereof; and
  • (e) whether any of the said KVs will be set up in Rajsamand and if so, the details thereof and if not, the reasons therefor?
