Syllabus of JEE and NEET to remain unchanged for the year 2021

The syllabus of JEE and NEET will remain unchanged for the year 2021. However, unlike previous years, this year the candidates will have options to answer the questions in JEE and NEET Examinations.
The syllabus for JEE (Main 2021) to remain same as the previous year. But students will be given choice to answer 75 questions (25 questions each in Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics) out of 90 questions (30 questions each in Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics). In JEE (Main) 2020, there were 75 questions all of which had to be answered by the candidates (25 questions each in Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics).
The exact pattern for NEET (UG) 2021 is yet to be announced. However, in view of reduction of syllabus by some boards across the country, the NEET (UG) 2021 question paper will also have options on the lines of JEE (Main).
Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank on Monday while interacting with students of Kendriya Vidyalaya addressed the question on reduction in syllabus. Though he has not said that the questions would be based on the revised syllabus, he has pointed out that choices would be given to students for the topics in the syllabus that have been removed.
To this question, the Minister answered that the students will only have to study the revised syllabus for their CBSE Board exams. As for the competitive examinations, this year choice would be included in the question papers. The portion that has been removed would only form the part where internal choices is available. In the live interaction, the Education Minister said that Kendriya Vidyalayas reopen in a phased manner soon. The offline classes would be resumed in the schools along with the online classes across the country.
When a student asked about his concerns regarding travelling to exam centres for Board Exams 2021 amid the pandemic, the Education Minister replied that students should reduce their fears about travelling to exam centres amid COVID. NEET, JEE exams in 2020 was conducted amid the pandemic and all the competitive exams were conducted successfully across the country by the government.
He also lauded the teachers and the students to face the COVID-19 crisis with grit and determination and converted “challenges into opportunities”. He explained the importance of the ‘Manodarpan’ platform to students to release their stress and boost up their mental health that was affected due to sitting at home for a long time.
