Large scale vacancies in Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs) across the country

Will the Minister of AGRICULTURE AND FARMERS WELFARE be pleased to state:

(a) whether the Government is aware of large scale vacancies in Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs) across the country;

(b) if so, the details thereof and the action plan to fill these vacancies;

(c) whether there is any proposal to set up new Krishi Vigyan Kendras in the country especially in Odisha; and

(d) if so, the details thereof?

(a) and (b): As per the Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) scheme of Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), KVKs are opened under the administrative control of the different Host Organizations viz. State Government, Central Agricultural Universities, State Agricultural Universities, Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs), Non- Government Organisations (NGOs), and ICAR. There exists vacancies in ICAR-KVKs and KVKs under other host organizations. Filling up of vacancies in KVKs is a continuous process. Requisite action is taken to fill the vacancies expeditiously.

(c) and (d): Odisha at present has 33 KVKs covering 30 districts and there is no proposal as of now to set up any new KVK in Odisha.
