Teacher’s Vacancies in Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas

Will the Minister of Education be pleased to state:

(a) the details of the teacher’s vacancies in the Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas (KGBV);

(b) whether Government has notified these vacancies on permanent basis;

(c) whether Government is moving ahead for the recruitment of teachers in the all KGBVs of the country or there is any proposal to regularise the contract teachers;

(d) the details thereof; and

(e) the steps being taken in this regard?

(a) to (e): Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas (KGBVs), residential schools from class VI to XII for girls belonging to disadvantaged groups such as SC, ST, OBC, Minority and Below Poverty Line (BPL), are a part of centrally sponsored scheme of Samagra  Shiksha.  Teachers are recruited by States/UTs, as per the norms prescribed by National Council for Teacher Education/appropriate authority and the terms and conditions of the respective States and UTs for KGBVs. The Central Government provides support as per the availability of funds and norms prescribed under Samagra Shiksha Scheme and the proposals submitted by the States/UTs to the Project Approval Board (PAB).

As such, the matters related to operationalization and functioning of KGBVs including the creation of posts/vacancies, recruitment, service conditions and deployment of teachers, come under the purview of concerned State/UT Governments. The Central Government, through Samagra Shiksha, provides assistance to the States and UTs for deployment of teachers in KGBVs to maintain appropriate Pupil Teacher Ratio as per the  prescribed norms for  various  levels  of schooling. Recruitment or regularization of contract teachers fall in the jurisdiction of respective State/UT governments.
