Will the Minister of PETROLEUM AND NATURAL GAS be pleased to state:
(a) the total number of gas connections issued and the total number of gas connections remaining to be issued under Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY) in the country till June, 2021, State-wise and district-wise;
(b) the criteria laid down for selecting eligible families under the said scheme and the base year for their selection;
(c) whether the Government proposes to give gas connection also to the remaining new eligible families in addition to the selected eligible families at present in several States by covering them under the said scheme; and
(d) if so, the time by which it is likely to be done and if not, the reasons therefor?

(a) As of 30.06.2021, 8 crore LPG connections are released under Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana(PMUY). The target under the scheme, to release 8 crore LPG connections by March 2020, was achieved during September 2019. State-wise details of LPG connections released under PMUY are at Annexure.
(b) Under PMUY, LPG connection was released in the name of adult woman of the poor family, subject to the condition that no LPG connection exists in the name of any family member of the household and fulfilling other terms and conditions. Initially, the beneficiaries under PMUY were identified either from SECC list or from seven other identified categories. Subsequently, Government extended the benefit to all left out poor families under PMUY subject to fulfilment of terms & conditions.
(c) & (d) Hon’ble Finance Minister, during her budget speech on 1st February, 2021, has announced to provide 1 crore more LPG connections under PMUY in addition to 8 crore LPG connections already released. The modalities for releasing 1 crore LPG connections under PMUY have already been finalised and have been communicated to the Oil Marketing Companies.
