STATEMENT REFERRED TO IN REPLY TO PARTS (a) TO (d) OF LOK SABHA STARRED QUESTION NO. 14 FOR 29TH NOVEMBER, 2021
(a) The objectives of the Seva Bhoj Yojana, a Central Sector Scheme launched w.e.f. 1st August, 2018, is to provide reimbursement of Central Goods and Services Tax (CGST) and Central Government’s share of Integrated Goods & Services Tax (IGST) paid by charitable/religious institutions like Gurudwara, Temples, Dharmik Ashram, Mosques, Dargah, Church, Math, Monasteries etc., who have been distributing free food in the form of ‘prasad’, ‘langar’/bhandara (community kitchen) to at least 5000 persons in a calendar month for at least past 3 years, on purchase of specific raw food items viz. (i) Ghee (ii) Edible Oil (iii) Sugar/Burra/Jaggery (iv) Rice (v) Atta/Maida/Rava/Flour and (vi) Pulses.
(b) A total of 1843 applications have been received so far under Seva Bhoj Yojana. The State wise list of applications received, processed and accepted under the Scheme so far is placed at Annexure I.
(c) The list of applications received and accepted from the State of Jharkhand, district- wise including Hazaribagh and Ramgarh Districts is placed at Annexure II.
(d) The complete details of Seva Bhoj Yojana alongwith comprehensive Scheme guidelines are available on the official website of the Ministry of Culture for creating awareness amongst Charitable / Religious Institutions involved in distributing free food in the form of Prasad, langar, bhandara etc. This scheme is open throughout the year for the applicant organizations. A mechanism for scrutinizing the applications and short listing the eligible organizations for financial assistance on a monthly basis is also in place.
