BULLET TRAIN HIGH SPEED RAIL PROJECT
1800. SHRI RAJIV RANJAN SINGH ALIAS LALAN SINGH Will the Minister of RAILWAYS be pleased to state
(a) the present status of Bullet Train High Speed Rail Projects; and
(b) the details of routes that have already been identified by the Railways for Bullet Train Projects?

(a) and (b): At present Mumbai-Ahmedabad High Speed Rail (MAHSR) project is the only sanctioned project of High Speed Rail (HSR) in the country which is under execution with the financial and technical assistance from Government of Japan. A Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV), namely National High Speed Rail Corporation Limited (NHSRCL) has been formed to implement the Project. The current status of Mumbai- Ahmedabad High Speed Rail (MAHSR) project is as under:-
(i) Final Location Survey and Geotechnical investigation has been completed. Alignment has been finalized.
(ii) Statutory Clearances relating to wildlife, Coastal Regulation Zone (CRZ) and Forest clearance have been obtained.
(iii) Joint Measurement Survey (JMS) for 295 villages out of 297 has been completed.
(iv) Out of total land requirement of approx. 1396 ha., about 1089 ha. land has been acquired. Land of 285 ha. in Maharashtra is yet to be acquired.
(v) 1420 out of 1651 utilities have been shifted.
(vi) Out of total 352 Km in Gujarat, civil works in 342 Km length have started in different phases from December, 2020.
Further, Ministry of Railways has assigned the work for preparation of Survey/Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the following seven HSR corridors to National High Speed Rail Corporation Limited (NHSRCL):-
- (i) Delhi-Varanasi (865kms)
- (ii) Delhi- Ahmedabad (886 kms)
- (iii) Mumbai- Nagpur (753 kms)
- (iv) Mumbai- Hyderabad (711 kms)
- (v) Chennai-Bangalore-Mysore (435 kms)
- (vi) Delhi- Amritsar (459 kms)
- (vii) Varanasi-Patna-Howrah (760 kms)
The decision on sanctioning any HSR project depends on the outcome of DPR, techno-economic feasibility, availability of resources and financing options.
