Will the Minister of Housing and Urban Affairs be pleased to state:

(a) the details of the number of houses constructed for the homeless in the country during the last five years under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana -Urban (PMAY-U), State-wise;

(b) whether the Government has set any timeline to achieve the goal of providing pucca houses to everyone in the country; and

(c) if so, the details thereof and the total number of persons who would be able to get housing facility after the completion of the said target in the country?

STATEMENT REFERRED TO IN REPLY TO LOK SABHA STARRED QUESTION NO. 64* (4TH POSITION) FOR ANSWER ON 21.07.2022 REGARDING “HOUSES UNDER PMAY-U”

(a) to (c): Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs is implementing Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Urban (PMAY-U) – ‘Housing for All’ Mission since 25.06.2015 for giving Central assistance to  States/ Union Territories (UTs) for providing all-weather pucca houses to all eligible urban beneficiaries including homeless people.

States/ UTs submitted the project proposals to this Ministry, after approval from concerned State Level Sanctioning and Monitoring Committee (SLSMC), for approval of Central assistance by Central Sanctioning & Monitoring Committee (CSMC). Based on the project proposals submitted by States/ UTs, a total of 122.69 lakh houses have been sanctioned during the Mission period i.e. till 31 March 2022. Completion of projects Generally takes 12-36 months in different verticals of the Scheme.

Against the sanctioned houses, 101.94 lakh have been grounded for construction; of which 61.15 lakh are completed/ delivered to beneficiaries. State/ UT-wise details of number of houses constructed under the Scheme during last five years are at Annexure.

Out of the total 122.69 lakh sanctioned houses, around 41 lakh houses have been sanctioned in the last two years. States/ UTs have been advised to expedite the construction of sanctioned houses so that all houses are completed within the stipulated timeline as per Detailed Project Reports.

State/UT-wise details of number of houses constructed during last five years (FY2017-2022) under PMAY-U generally takes 12-36 months in different verticals of the Scheme.
