Last date to apply for Delhi electricity subsidy scheme extended till Nov 15
The Delhi government has extended the last date to apply for getting electricity at subsidised rates in the national capital till November 15, 2022. “The last date for registration for the free electricity scheme in Delhi has now been extended till November 15; Delhi residents who register till November 15 will continue to get the benefit of the free electricity scheme,” Arvind Kejriwal, chief minister of Delhi, said in a tweet. Around 35 lakh families have registered for subsidised electricity schemes in Delhi, he further mentioned.

What is the new voluntary subsidy scheme (VSS) for free electricity in Delhi?
The Delhi government launched a free electricity scheme in the national capital in 2019. Under this scheme, residents of Delhi used to get a 100 per cent subsidy for consuming less than 200 units of electricity and a 50 per cent subsidy of up to Rs 800 for using up to 400 units of electricity a month. Now, the state government has introduced a new voluntary subsidy scheme (VSS) where it is mandatory for the people of Delhi to opt-in for the subsidy to continue getting electricity at subsidised rates. What this means is that subsidy on electricity will not be available by default, consumers will have to apply for it.
How to register for electricity subsidy via missed call
Delhi residents can give a missed call on 7011311111. They will get a link to opt for a subsidy via SMS. In the next step, they can click on the link and it will redirect them to a page on WhatsApp. They have to enter their CA number which is available in the electricity form. They can see a pre-filled subsidy application form on the screen. Then, they have to confirm the details by selecting the ‘YES’ option to opt for the electricity subsidy. In the last step, they will get an acknowledgment message to their number through WhatsApp.
How to apply for an electricity subsidy via WhatsApp
Customers need to send ‘Hi’ to WhatsApp number 7011311111. In the next step, they have to enter an 11-digit CA number. A pre-filled application form will be shown on the screen. Then, the customers have to confirm the details by selecting the ‘YES’ option to opt for a subsidy on electricity.
How to apply for a subsidy on electricity by scanning the QR code
Delhi residents can apply for a subsidy on electricity by scanning the QR code provided with the pre-filled subsidy application with the last month’s electricity bill. Once they scan the code, they will be redirected to their WhatsApp. Then, a pre-filled subsidy application form will be displayed on the screen. The consumers need to confirm their details by selecting ‘YES’ to opt for the power subsidy. Then, they will receive an acknowledgment through WhatsApp.
How to apply for power subsidy offline
The consumers can fill up a consent form attached to their power bill and submit it at the nearest billing centers or customer care centers of the electricity board to avail of the free subsidy. Customers can find the consent form with the electricity bill for October and November. Do note that The address of the designated or nearest center where the customer can submit this form, is also mentioned in the electricity bill.
How to know that you will get free electricity
Within three days of registration through the physical or electronic method, a confirmation will be sent to consumers through SMS or e-mail that their subsidy on electricity will continue.
Will the registration process be the same for all?
The registration process for getting electricity at subsidised rates is the same for customers of all three power distribution companies — BSES Rajdhani Power Limited (BRPL), BSES Yamuna Power Limited (BYPL), and Tata Power Delhi Distribution Limited (TPDDL).
Can two electricity subsidies be applied from the same mobile number?
No. Customers can only apply for one electricity subsidy from one mobile number. Two subsidies can not be registered from a single mobile number.
