FREE COACHING SCHEME FOR SC AND OBC STUDENTS
Will the Minister of SOCIAL JUSTICE AND EMPOWERMENT be pleased to state:
(a) whether the Government is running two schemes namely “Free Coaching Scheme for SC and OBC Students”, and “Pre-Matric Scholarship for OBC Students” in the country;
(b) if so, whether the Government has implemented this scheme in the Madhya Pradesh especially in the District of Katni, Panna and town of Khajuraho of Khajuraho Lok Sabha Constituency;
(c) if so, the details thereof and the measures taken over the course of schemes to make these more effective and accessible to all needy students; and
(d) if not, the reasons therefor?
ANSWER
(a): The Department of Social Justice and Empowerment is running schemes for “Free Coaching for Scheduled Castes and Other Backward Classes”, and “Pre-Matric Scholarship for OBC Students”
(b) to (d): From 2023-24, the Scheme of Free Coaching for Scheduled Castes and Other Backward Classes is being implemented by Dr. Ambedkar Foundation (DAF) through Dr. Ambedkar Centre of Excellence (DACE) established in empanelled Central Universities. As on date, 19 Central Universities have signed MoU with DAF. List of these 19 Central Universities is placed at Annexure. In Madhya Pradesh, the Scheme is being implemented through 2 Central Universities namely Dr. Hari Singh Gour Vishwavidyalaya, Sagar and Indira Gandhi National Tribal University, Amarkantak where the students from District of Katni, Panna and town of Khajuraho of Khajuraho Lok Sabha Constituency are also enrolled.
Under ‘Pre-Matric Scholarship for Other Backward Classes’, a Centrally Sponsored Scheme, Students from District of Katni, Panna and town of Khajuraho of Khajuraho Lok Sabha Constituency are also being covered under the Scheme.
To ensure wider awareness, the Department has taken various steps such as advertisements in National and Regional Newspapers through empanelled Central Universities, running Social Media Campaigns, uploading of Scheme Guidelines on Website of Ministry as well as on the website of empanelled Central Universities, follow up and review with States/UTs for popularizing the Schemes.
