KVs AND JNVs ESTABLISHED UNDER PM SHRI SCHEME

1042. SHRI BAIJAYANT PANDA:

Will the Minister of EDUCATION be pleased to state:

(a) the number of Kendriya Vidyalayas (KVs) and Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas (JNVs) established under PM SHRI scheme since its inception, particularly in Odisha;

(b) the number of schools planned to be established under the PM SHRI scheme in the upcoming year;

(c) whether School Quality Assessment Framework (SQAF) is being developed to measure the outcomes of these schools, if so, the details thereof; and

(d) whether the Government has undertaken regular quality evaluations of PM SHRI schools?

(a) & (b) PM SHRI Scheme aims to establish more than 14,500 PM SHRI Schools by strengthening the existing schools from amongst those managed by the Central government/State/UT Government/local bodies. A total of 33 states/UTs, along with Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS), Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti (NVS) and National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) have signed the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Ministry of Education for the implementation of the PM SHRI Scheme. So far, 11920 PM SHRI schools have been selected. A total of 884 Kendriya Vidyalayas (KVs) and 620 Navodaya Vidyalayas (NVs) have been selected as PM SHRI schools across the country. 43 PM SHRI schools from KVS and 31 PM SHRI schools from NVS have been selected in the State of Odisha.

(c) & (d) The School Quality Assessment Framework (SQAF) has been developed as per the recommendations of the National Education Policy (NEP), 2020, indicating the level of proficiency to be achieved by each PM SHRI school. SQAF is divided into six main domains, based on the six pillars of the PM SHRI Scheme, aligned with NEP 2020 namely (i) Curriculum, Pedagogy, and Assessment (ii) Access and Infrastructure (iii) Human Resources and School Leadership (iv) Inclusive Practices and Gender Equity (v) Management, Monitoring and (vi) Governance and Beneficiary Satisfaction. The progress of PM SHRI schools is regularly monitored by the State/UT Government and the Central Government.
