Will the Minister of CHEMICALS AND FERTILIZERS be pleased to state:

(a) the number of Pradhan Mantri Jan Aushadhi Kendras functioning in the country at present particularly in the State of Himachal Pradesh, district-wise and State-wise;

(b) the details of various types of medicines/generic medicines available at the said centres along with the consumption thereof;

(c) the difference in the price of medicines available at the said centres and other chemist shops;

(d) the details of the turnover of the said centres in Himachal Pradesh during the last ten years, year-wise;

(e) whether the Government proposes to formulate a plan to ensure that the benefits of the said scheme reaches maximum number of people in the country; and

(f) ) if so, the details thereof?

ANSWER

(a): Under the Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Janaushadhi Pariyojana (PMBJP), 12,616 Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Janaushadhi Kendras (PMBJKs) have been opened till 30.06.2024 across the country, of which 74 Kendras have been opened in Himachal Pradesh. State/UT-wise list of PMBJKs opened across the country till 30.06.2024 is enclosed as Annexure-I. District-wise list of PMBJKs opened in Himachal Pradesh till 30.06.2024 is enclosed as Annexure-II.

(b): Product basket of PMBJP presently comprises of 2047 medicines, and 300 surgical and medical consumables. These medicines cover all therapeutic groups viz. Analgesic & Antipyretic / Anti-inflammatory, Antidiabetic, Anti-biotic and Anti-Fungal, Cardiovascular, Psychotropic, Dermatology, Vitamins & Minerals, Gastrointestinal, Respiratory, Anti-cancer, etc.

Under PMBJP, total sale of Rs. 5,600 Crore approximately have been made from 2008 till 30.06.2024 through PMBJKs across the country.

(c): Prices of the Jan Aushadhi medicines are generally 50%-90% lesser than that of branded medicines’ prices, which are available in the open market.

(d): In the last 10 financial years including current financial year, sales of Rs. 22.38 crore have been made by selling quality generic medicines through PMBJKs in Himachal Pradesh. Financial year- wise details are as under: –

(e) & (f): To ensure that the benefits of the said scheme reaches maximum number of people in the country, the Government has set a target of opening 25,000 PMBJKs across the country by 31.03.2027. Applicants from all states/UTs may apply for opening of new PMBJKs.
