As of recent reports, significant progress has been made towards the target of constructing 2.95 crore pucca houses, with many beneficiaries already receiving their homes. This scheme plays a crucial role in enhancing the quality of life for rural families, providing them with stability and a sense of belonging. Through PMAY-G, the government is committed to transforming the housing landscape in rural India, fostering a more inclusive and equitable society.

PUCCA AWAS UNDER PMAY-G

Will the Minister of RURAL DEVELOPMENT be pleased to state:

(a) the total cost incurred by the Government for the construction of 8,21,190 PuccaAwas under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana Gramin (PMAY-G);

(b) whether there is any future plans or extensions of the PMAY-G scheme to ensure housing for all in rural areas of the country;

(c) if so, the details thereof; and

(d) the number of houses constructed under the PMAY-G scheme in the Bhiwani Mahendergarh Lok Sabha constituency and the total expenditure incurred in this region?

ANSWER

(a): Under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana Gramin (PMAY-G), the unit assistance of Rs. 1.20 lakh in plain areas and Rs. 1.30 lakh in North Eastern States, Hilly States (including UTs of J&K and Ladakh) is provided. The funding pattern between Centre and the State for the NER States and Himalayan States [Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir (UT)] is 90:10 whereas for the rest of the States is 60:40 and for Union Territories without legislature, 100% funding are borne by the Centre. The Ministry has released central share of Rs 2,48,694.53crore to the states/UTs since inception of the scheme i.e. 01.04.2016.

In addition to the unit assistance, the beneficiaries are facilitated with 90/95 man days of unskilled labour wages through mandatory convergence with Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS). Support of Rs. 12,000 for construction of toilet is also provided through Swacch Bharat Mission – Gramin (SBM-G), MGNREGS or any other dedicated source of funding.

(b) & (c): The Union Cabinet has approved the proposal for “Implementation of the Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana- Gramin (PMAY-G) during FY 2024-25 to 2028-29” for construction of additional 2 crore rural houses with an outlay of 3.06 lakh crores.

(d): The progress of the scheme in Bhiwani- Mahendergarh Lok Sabha constituency Haryana is as under:

*Bhiwani-Mahendergarh Lok Sabha constituency covers Bhiwani, Charki Dadri and Mahendergarh districts of Haryana.

The Central Assistance under PMAY-G is released directly to the State/UT considering the State/UT as a unit. Further release of these funds to beneficiaries in various districts is done by the respective State/UT Governments. Since inception of the scheme i.e. 2016-17 till 07.03.2025, Central share of Rs 347.25 cr has been released to the State of Haryana and State has reported to utilize Rs 422.66 cr which includes state share also.
