Arms and ammunition safety training course syllabus
MINISTRY OF HOME AFFAIRS
NOTIFICATION
New Delhi, the 18th February, 2025
F. No. V-11026/77/2023.—In pursuance of Sub-rule (3) of rule 10 of the Arms Rules,2016 the Central Government hereby notify that the safety training course as specified in sub-rule (1) of rule 10 of the said rules, shall be for a duration not less than of 270 minutes comprising six sessions as per the syllabus given below, namely:-

Firing Techniques and Procedures |
a. Basics of firing techniques and procedures
b. Understanding safety mechanisms of a weapon c. Types of ammunition compatible with each type of weapon |

3. | Session 3:
Care of Arm and Ammunition |
Proper cleaning techniques, including, inter-alia barrel cleaning, appropriate oiling methods, and basics of proof-test | 45 minutes |
4. | Session 4:
Safe storage and Transportation |
a. Safe and secure storage of firearms and ammunition
b. Safety precautions in transportation and travel with weapons |

5. | Session 5:
Working Knowledge of Arms Act, Rules and other executive instructions issued by Government |
a. Legal requirements and responsibilities of owning a personal weapon in India
b. Obtaining licenses for various types of weapons, renewal of licence, surrender, and transfer of weapons c. Penalties for offences |
