Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas under PM SHRI Scheme

Will the Minister of EDUCATION be pleased to state:
(a) whether the Government has proposed to bring Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas (JNVs) under PM SHRI Scheme;
(b) if so, the details thereof along with the salient features of the scheme thereof;
(c) the number of Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas covered under PM SHRI scheme, State-wise especially in Uttar Pradesh;
(d) the phase-wise budget sanctioned to JNVs under PM SHRI Scheme;
(e) the improvements have taken place in Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas after the launch of PM SHRI Scheme, State-wise, especially in Chhattisgarh;
(f) the extent to which the PM SHRI Scheme is likely to achieve its objectives and improve the standards of education in JNVs;
(g) whether the Government has taken steps to fill the vacancies of teaching and non-teaching posts in Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas;
(h) if so, the details of total recruitments made during the last five years; and
(i) the details of the schools identified by the Government under PM SHRI Scheme in Dadar and Nagar Haveli, district-wise?

(a) to (c) As per information received from Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti (NVS), a total number of 620 Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas (JNVs) have been covered under PM SHRI Scheme. The number of JNVs covered under PM SHRI Scheme, State-wise, especially in Uttar Pradesh is at Annexure – I.
PM SHRI schools are set up in phased manner by strengthening the existing schools from amongst schools managed by Central Government/State/UT Government/local bodies. These schools are to showcase all the initiatives of National Education Policy 2020 and emerge as exemplar schools over a period of time, and also offer leadership to other schools in the neighbourhood. They provide leadership in their respective regions in providing high-quality education in an equitable, inclusive and joyful school environment that takes care of the diverse background, multilingual needs, and different academic abilities of children and makes them active participants in their own learning process as per the vision of NEP 2020.
Under the scheme, there is a provision of setting up of more than 14500 PM SHRI Schools by strengthening the existing schools from amongst schools managed by Central government/State/UT Government/local bodies out of which 12,084 PM SHRI Schools have been selected up to 4th phase of selection.
The major features in the PM SHRI Scheme are as under :
1. Quality and Innovation (Learning Enhancement Programme, Holistic Progress Card, Innovative Pedagogies, Bagless days, Internships with Local artisans, Capacity building etc.).
2. Beneficiary oriented Entitlements under Right to Education (RTE) Act.
3. Annual School Grants (Composite School grants, Library grant, Sports grant).
4. Early Childhood Care and Education including Balvatika and Foundational Literacy and Numeracy.
5. Equity and Inclusion including provision of safe and appropriate infrastructure for girls and children with special needs (CwSN).
6. Encouraging flexibility in choice of subjects offered to students.
7. Encouraging mother tongue as medium of instruction using technological interventions to help bridge language barriers between teachers and students.
8. ICT, smart classrooms and digital libraries for using digital pedagogy.
9. Strengthening of existing infrastructure.
10. Vocational interventions & Enhancing internship/entrepreneurship opportunities especially with local industry. Mapping of skills with developmental projects/nearby industry and develop courses/curriculum accordingly.
(d) The phase wise budget sanctioned to Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti (NVS) under PM SHRI Scheme is as follows:

(e) & (f) The objectives of PM SHRI scheme have been by and large achieved by the JNVs covered under the scheme. The improvements taken place in all PM SHRI JNVs, including the JNVs of Chhattisgarh, are as under:
- Smart Classes and upgradation of ICT infrastructure
- Development of Sports Facilities
- Availability of Experimental Kits (Science & Maths Kits) for Experiential Learning
- Establishment of Atal Tinkering Labs in all JNVs
- Organization of Health Camps
- Vocational/ Skill Education
- Bagless Days activities
- Exposure visits
- Science / Math circle
- Capacity Building Training Programs for Principals and Teachers
- Self Defense training for girls
- Mentoring and Career Guidance sessions by experts
- Art & Education program in all JNVs with local artisan / expert artists.
- Engaging yoga / sports coaches
(g) & (h) The vacancies of teaching and non-teaching staff arise due to retirement, resignation, promotion and additional requirement on account of up- gradation / sanctioning of new streams as well as enhancement of students’ strength. Filling up of vacancies is a continuous process and efforts are made to fill up the vacancies as per the provisions of the relevant recruitment rules. Teachers are also engaged on contractual basis for temporary duration by Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti (NVS) to ensure that the teaching-learning process is not hampered. The details of direct recruitment of teaching and non-teaching posts made during the last five years in NVS are as follows:
