Will the Minister of SOCIAL JUSTICE AND EMPOWERMENT be pleased to state:
(a) the details of the number of schemes implemented by the Govenunent to provide free coaching to SC, OBC and EWS Students for preparation of IIT, UPSC and other competitive examinations; and
(b) the details of the number of students benefited by said schemes in the State of Kamataka especially in Chitradurga Parliamentary Constituency, district, scheme and year-wise?

(a): “Free Coaching Scheme for SCs and OBCs” is being implemented by the Department of Social Justice and Empowerment (DoSJE) through empanelled Central Universities. The Scheme is for students from Scheduled Castes (SCs) and Other Backward Classes (OBCs). with slots allocated in the ratio of 70:30. Applicants with family income up to 8 lakh per annum are eligible. Each year, 3,500 slots are available under the Scheme. Under the Scheme, coaching is imparted for the preparation of IIT-JEE, Civil Services Exam (CSE) conducted by UPSC and for other competitive examinations.
(b): The coaching under the “Free Coaching Scheme for SCs and OBCs” is being imparted through empanelled Central Universities. The Central University of Kamataka is the only Central University located in Karnataka. The Central University of Karnataka has not signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to implement the Scheme. As the “Free Coaching Scheme for SCs and OBCs” is a Central Sector Scheme, district-wise details of beneficiaries are not maintained.
