ANSWER
THE MINISTER OF STATE (IC) OF THE MINISTRY OF AYUSH
(SHRI PRATAPRAO JADHAV)
(a) to (f) Public Health being a State subject, opening of Ayush Health & Wellness Centres (AHWCs) [now renamed as Ayushman Arogya Mandir (Ayush)] comes under the purview of the respective State/UT Governments. However, under the Centrally Sponsored Scheme of the National Ayush Mission (NAM), there is a provision for operationalization of Ayushman Arogya Mandir (AAM (Ayush)) by upgrading existing Ayush dispensaries / sub health centres with an objective to establish a holistic wellness model based on AYUSH principles and practices, to empower the masses for “self-care” to reduce the disease burden, out-of-pocket expenditure and to provide informed choice to the needy public. Under NAM, as per the proposals received from State / UT Governments through their State Annual Action Plans (SAAPs), 12500 units of existing Ayush dispensaries and Sub Health Centres has been approved to be upgraded as AAM(Ayush) and financial grants of Rs. 906.75 crore have been released to States/UTs under Centrally Sponsored Scheme of National Ayush Mission. As reported by States/UTs out of the approved Units, 12121 AAM (Ayush) have been made functional. For operationalization of remaining AAM (Ayush), a revised target has been fixed upto 2024-25. Further, various review meetings have been conducted time to time and physical & financial progress reports are being obtained from State /UT Governments on regular interval to monitor and evaluate the performance of these AAM (Ayush). The State / UT-wise status of approved and functional AAM (Ayush) are furnished at Annexure.
