HOUSES FOR THE POOR UNDER PMAY-U IN JHARKHAND

NO. 1677. SHRI MANISH JAISWAL:

Will the Minister of HOUSING AND URBAN AFFAIRS be pleased to state:

(a) whether the Government has any data of houses provided to the poor people under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Urban (PMAY-U) during the last three years and if so, the details thereof, year- wise;

(b) the quantum of funds allocated and the details of the houses sanctioned in to Hazaribagh district of Jharkhand under the said scheme during the last three years and the current year, year- wise;

(c) the number of applications pending with the Government for the allotment of houses to the poor families in Hazaribagh in Jharkhand under PMAY-U; and

(d) the action taken by the Government in this regard?

ANSWER
THE MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF HOUSING AND URBAN AFFAIRS

(SHRI TOKHAN SAHU)

(a) to (d) ‘Land’ and ‘Colonization’ are State subjects. Therefore, schemes related to housing for their citizens are implemented by States/Union Territories (UTs). However, Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs supplements the efforts of States/UTs by providing Central assistance under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana- Urban (PMAY-U) since 25.06.2015 to provide pucca houses with basic civic amenities to all eligible urban beneficiaries including urban poor across the country.

PMAY-U is a demand driven scheme and Government of India has not fixed any target for construction of houses. Based on the demand for housing in the urban areas, States/UTs prepare project proposals and after approval of State Level Sanctioning & Monitoring Committee (SLSMC), these are submitted to this Ministry for sanctioning of admissible Central assistance by Central Sanctioning & Monitoring Committee (CSMC).

Details of houses sanctioned, completed and Central assistance released under PMAY-U overall in the country, in the State of Jharkhand and in Hazaribagh district, during each of the last three years and current year, are at Annexure.
