CIRCULAR
Subject: Guidelines for conducting Practical Examinations with the Supplementary Examination. 2024-reg
As per provisions of the Scheme of Studies/Examination Bye-Laws by the CBSE, practical examinations are required to be conducted in respect of the following two categories of students:
- (a) Students who have been placed in the Compartment category due to Repeat in Practical (RP) in any subject
- (b) Students who have been placed in the Compartment category due to Repeat in Theory and Practical Both (RB) in any subject(s) .
SCHOOLS AND STUDENTS MAY PLEASE NOTE THE FOLLOWING FOR FURTHER NECESSARY ACTION IN THIS REGARD:
1. APPEARI NG IN PRACTICAL EXAMS DURING THE SUPPLEMENTARY EXAMINATIONS
(a) For Class XII candidates
A student who has been placed in the Compartment category due to Repeat in Practical (RP) shall have to appear in the practical examination only during the Supplementary exams and there is no need for him to appear in the theory examination and previous theory marks will be carried forward and accounted for.
Students who have been placed in the Compartment category due to Repeat in Theory and Practical Both (RB) shall have to appear in the practical examination as well as in the theory examination during the Supplementary Examinations , 2024 .
(b) For Class X candidates
In Class X, a candidate is declared pass in a subject provided he has secured 33 marks including Theory and Internal Assessment. If a candidate has been placed in the Compartment category and was absent in the Internal Assessment , such candidates wil be awarded pro-rata marks in the Internal Assessment based on theory marks awarded in the supplementary examination. No Internal Assessment will be conducted for such students during supplementary as it is a whole year-long exercise.
2. DATES FOR CONDUCT OF PRACTICAL EXAMINATIONS
The Practical Examinations shall be conducted from 05th July 2024 to 151h July 2024.
3. VENUE OF PRACTICAL EXAMINATIONS
(a) For regular candidates, practical examinations will be conducted in their schools
(b) For private candidates, practical examinations shall be conducted in the Examination Centres fixed for theory examinations. In case in any examination centre/school, the facility for practical exams in a particular subject (s) is not available, the concerned Regional Office may make necessary arrangements for conducting practical examination in that subject(s) in a nearby examination centre/school.
4. APPOINTMENT OF EXTERNAL EXAMINER BY THE BOARD
The Regional Offices will appoint External Examiners for all students of Class XII. The internal examiners shall be appointed by the schools/centre superintendent from their own school teachers.
5. ANSWER BOOKS FOR PRACTICAL
The practical answer books supplied by the Regional Offices are to be used for the conduct of the practical examination. It is to be ensured that the examiner completes all entries in practical answer books carefully and correctly
6. UPLOADING PRACTICAL MARKS ON THE PORTAL
The Schools/Examination centre where practical exams are conducted during the Supplementary Examination-2024 shall upload the marks awarded to the candidates on the portal on the same day. The marks once uploaded shall be deemed final and no request for any change in the same will be accepted.
7. ACTION BY STUDENTS/EXAMINEES
(a) The students/examinees shall contact their schools/examination centres without fail by 05 July 2024 with a copy of their result/mark sheet and admit card.
(b) The students/examinees shall note the date and time of the practical examination given by the school/examination centre and report for the practical examination at the designated venue on time.
8. ACTION BY SCHOOL/EXAMINATION CENTRES
(a) The School Principal/Centre Superintendent of the School/Examination Centre shall prepare a subject-wise list of all students whose practical examinations are to be conducted.
(b) The School Principal/Centre Superintendent of the School/ Examination Centre shall contact the Regional Office well in advance for the appointment of externa l examiners wherever required
(c) Under no circumstances the School Principal/Centre Superintendent of the School/ Examination Centre shall appoint external examiners at their own
(d) The date and time of the practical examinations shall be fixed keeping in mind the availability of external examiners, convenience of examinees and the date sheet of supplementary examinations
(e) The students/examinees shall be informed well in advance about the dates and time of conduct of examinations .
(f) The regional officers shall be informed about the plan of conduct of practical examinations
9. ACTION BY REGIONAL OFFICES
(a) The Regional Offices shall prepare a list of all students whose practical examinations are to be conducted, centre-wise and subject-wise
(b) The Regional Offices shall appoint external examiners well in advance where ever required
(c) The Regional Offices shall ensure timely completion of the practical examination, uploading of practical marks on the portal and receipt of practical answer books in the Regional Office
