The Department of School Education and Literacy, Ministry of Education, Govt. of India has launched ‘PRERANA: The School of Experiential Learning’ program which is one of its kind inspirational program for students of class 9th to 12th. It is a one-week residential program for 20 students (10 girls and 10 boys) from 10 districts of different States/ UTs at the PRERANA School, Vadnagar, Gujarat.

Detailed information regarding the PRERANA program is available at https://prerana.education.gov.in/ and the registration can be done on the same portal. SOP for organising Prerana Utsav Day at school level is at Annexure-1.

You are requested to disseminate the above information with all the students and teachers of your school and facilitate registration of interested students on PRERANA portal for selection to this uniquely ambitious and inspirational leadership program.

PRERANA: An Experiential Learning Programme

SOP for Organizing PRERANA UTSAV DAY at School/District level

Registration of Students through PRERANA Portal

PRERANA Portal is scheduled be opened from 15th March 2024 for application by students of Class IX – XII for all districts of all States and UTs except the 90 districts covered under pilot phase (List Enclosed). All states would ensure maximum registration of students on PRERANA portal.

School Level Prerana Utsav

  • School level Prerana Utsav to be organized in all States and UTs between 1st April to 15th April 2024.
  • The State Education Department will decide district-wise dates of school level PRERANA Utsav and inform to MoE and NVS by 20th March 2024.
  • The State Education Department will communicate SOP for organization of PRERANA Utsav to all Schools including CBSE, KVS, JNV & State Govt. covering all districts in the state/UTs. (Except Already covered 90 districts in pilot phase).
  • At District level, the District Education Officer will organise an orientation program for PRERANA Utsav for all schools in districts. The District nodal JNV/KV Principal may be invited for the orientation program.
  • Each School in district will organize ‘PRERANA UTSAV’ at school level following the SOP for school level ‘PRERANA Utsav’ on the same date. Students of Class IX to XII (as per session 2024-25) will participate in PRERANA Utsav.
  • The school will orient the students for PRERANA program, register all students on PRERANA portal (if not already registered) and select 02 best students (01 boy & 01 Girl) for participating in ‘PRERANA UTSAV’ at JNV of the district.
  • Students will exhibit their talent in multi-modal activities of their choice such as writing essay / poem / story / song, make drawing / caricature etc. on given topics related to “Viksit Bharat” and “My Contribution towards Society and Nation”.
  • The students are to be shortlisted on the basis of qualities of leadership, social responsibility and passion for shaping the future of the nation.
  • The Backdrop of ‘PRERANA UTSAV’ and Film on PRERANA will be used by schools during organization of ‘PRERANA UTSAV’
  • Every school will update the details of participation of students in ‘PRERANA Utsav’ on the tracker shared by MoE. The DEOs Will ensure the updation of details on tracker by all schools in the district.
  • After organisation of school level PRERANA Utsav in district, DEO will send the signed list of all students selected for district level PRERANA Utsav to the district nodal JNV/KV within 3 days.

# The timing may be reviewed by State/ District Officers as per local requirement.

District Level Prerana Utsav

  • The Dates of District Level Prerana Utsav will be decided by Nodal Agency (NVS/KVS) (preferably from 1st to 20th April 2024) on the basis of schedule of school level Prerana Utsav in different states/UTs and districts.
  • NVS will communicate the schedule for district level PRERANA Utsav to MoE and to DEOs of respective districts through JNVs / district nodal school.
  • 02 students (01 boy & 01 girl) selected from each school of District, as per the list sent by DEO will participate in District level ‘PRERANA Utsav’ on the date as per the schedule communicated by NVS.
  • On PRERANA Utsav day at the Nodal school, The Nodal JNV/KV will orient the students for PRERANA program using PRERANA Film and Pamphlet.
  • The students will participate in various activities conducted at the JNV/KV on topics such as ‘why I should be selected for PRERANA’, ‘My vision for India’, ‘Vikasit Bharat @ 2047’.
  • Students will exhibit their talent in Multi modal activities of their choice such as writing essay/ poem/ story/song, Make drawing/ caricature etc. on given topic. (One Activity by each student).
  • After evaluation of these activities, 30 students (15 boys and 15 girls) will be selected comprising of at least 50% from Rural, 50% girls and fair representation of social categories based on the evaluation of their personalities and suitability for the program.
  • Personal Interview will be conducted for 30 students on the same day and the marks of Personal Interview will be uploaded on the PRERANA portal.
  • 02 participants (01 boy and 01 girl) and 2 backup participants (01 boy and 01 girl) will be finally selected through the Portal to attend the PRERANA Program.
  • After final selection, reporting of students to PRERANA will be coordinated by District Nodal

Selection Of Guardian Teachers

  • One female teacher is nominated as Guardian Teachers from each district by school from which the girl student is selected
  • DEO should approve the names of selected teachers keeping in view their suitability as resource person to train other teachers after attending the program
  • She should be fit and healthy with experience of atleast 4-5 years
  • She should not be a parent of any participating student
  • Guardian Teacher will prepare lesson plans reflecting the integration of values in their subjects for any chapter/topic and give presentations on values of their choice during the program.
  • On return, SCERTs/ DIETs of the respective state/ districts may utilise the services of Guardian Teachers as resources persons for wider outreach of the Value-based Experiential Learning imparted at PRERANA.
