What is the Indira Gandhi Pyari Behna Samman Nidhi Yojana?

Named after the former Prime Minister of India, Indira Gandhi, the scheme is a Himachal Pradesh government initiative, aimed at providing financial assistance to women in need. Under this scheme, the ruling Congress had promised to provide Rs 1,500 per month to women between the ages of 18 and 59.

Indira Gandhi Pyari Behna Samman Nidhi Yojana: Who is eligible?

A notification regarding this was issued by the Himachal Pradesh government on Thursday, March 14. According to the notification, this amount will not be provided to

• Income tax payers
• Female monks living permanently in monasteries
• Family members of state and central government employees
• Pensioners of central and state governments
• eEployees of Panchayati Raj institutions, local bodies, and public sector undertakings.

Other categories excluded from the scope of pension include contractual employees, daily wage earners, part-time employees, ex-servicemen and their wives, Anganwadi workers and helpers, Asha workers, mid-day meal workers, and beneficiaries of social security pension.

Indira Gandhi Pyari Behna Samman Nidhi Yojana: How to apply?

To apply for the scheme, follow the below steps:

• First of all, visit the nearest Tehsil Welfare Office and inquire about this scheme.
• Next, get its application form and fill in all the information asked in the application form on the basis of your documents.
• Also, attach all the required documents with this form.
• Now, submit the form in the office where you received it before the last date.
• All applications received will be verified by a team of designated officials. If everything is correct in the form, your form will be accepted, and you will start getting instalment in your account.

It should be noted that providing Rs 1,500 monthly to women was included in the 10 ‘guarantees’ given by the ruling Congress before the assembly elections in Himachal Pradesh. Earlier, opposition leader Jairam Thakur had accused Sukhu of misleading women over the non-implementation of the pension scheme.
