Self Employment Scheme : Assam CM launches registration portal for ambitious self-employment

The registration portal for the Assam government’s ambitious self-employment scheme “Mukhyamantrir Atmanirbhar Asom Abhiyan, 2023 “, which aims to create two lakh youth entrepreneurs in the state, has been officially launched by state Chief Minister Himanta Biswas Sarma in Dispur.

Over three years, the scheme intends to cover over 2 lakh educated youths of Assam. “I warmly invite our talented youngsters to register for the Mukhyamantri Atmanirbhar Asom Abhijan”, the Chief Minister said during the launch on Saturday.

“As per our election promise, our government has given one lakh government jobs. Now, we are beginning a new scheme for Assam’s unemployed educated youth, who will get Rs 5 lakhs and Rs 2 lakhs in two different categories,” he said.

The Chief Minister said 50 percent of the amount is being given as a soft loan and the other 50 per cent is a government grant. The beneficiary will only return the soft loan after five years in instalments without any interest.

While one lakh youths would be brought under the scheme in the first year, another one lakh youths would be covered by the scheme over the next two or three years. The applicant’s age should be 28-40 years (General category) or 28-43 years (SC/ST/OBC) as of April 1, 2023.

“We will spend Rs 5,000 crore for the one-of-its-kind scheme This is the largest self-employment scheme in the state. I hope the scheme will create a positive environment in the state,”
