NEET Entrance Exam
2901.  SHRI JAYADEV GALLA:
Will the Minister of EDUCATION be pleased to state:
(a) the number of students who wrote the NEET exam from 2013 onwards to till date, year-wise;

(b) the number of the State Boards, CBSE, ICSE, and other Education board students who have written the NEET Exam from the year 2013, year-wise;

(c) the board-wise categorisation of the number of students who have received admissions in the top 10 NIRF-ranked medical colleges classified, year-wise;

(d) whether the Government has any plans to conduct NEET exam twice a year; and

(e) if so, the reasons therefor and if not, the reasons therefor?

MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF EDUCATION 

DR. SUBHAS SARKAR
(a) The National Testing Agency (NTA) is conducting NEET (UG) on behalf of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare since May 2019, as a uniform entrance – cum – eligibility test for admission to undergraduate medical courses (MBBS, BDS, etc.) in all medical institutions across the country, as per the norms set out in relevant Graduate Medical Regulations of MCI (which has been replaced by NMC w.e.f. 24.09.2020). Prior to 2019, the NEET (UG) was conducted by the Central Board of Education (CBSE). The details of number of students who wrote the examination from 2013 onwards to till date, is attached as Annexure-I.
(b) The Board wise Data from the year 2019 onwards as provided by NTA is attached as Annexure- II. Before 2019, the examination was conducted by CBSE who have informed that such data was not maintained.
(c) The information on admission for various courses/programmes is compiled by the respective institutions themselves. Board-wise categorisation in respect of finally admitted candidates is not maintained centrally.
(d) and (e) No Sir. National Medical Commission has informed that there is no such proposal under consideration.
