Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) have slashed prices of commercial LPG cylinder amid softening of international oil prices

Will the Minister of PETROLEUM AND NATURAL GAS be pleased to state:

(a) whether Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) have slashed prices of commercial LPG cylinder amid softening of international oil prices and if so, the details thereof;

(b) whether it is also true that domestic LPG prices remain unchanged and if so, the details thereof;

(c) whether the Government has any proposal to reduce the domestic LPG prices; and

(d) if so, the details thereof and if not, the reasons therefor?

(a) to (d): India imports more than 60% of its domestic  LPG  consumption.  While  for domestic LPG, Government continues to modulate the effective price to consumers, the prices of commercial LPG are set by LPG marketing companies independently.

While the Retail Selling Prices (RSP) of domestic LPG cylinder remained unchanged at Rs. 1103 per 14.2 Kg cylinder for the months of June and July 2023 for Delhi, the RSP of commercial LPG cylinder increased from Rs. 1773 in June 2023 to Rs. 1780 per 19 Kg cylinder in July 2023 for Delhi.

Under the Direct Benefit Transfer for LPG (DBTL) scheme, the subsidy, as admissible, is credited to the bank accounts of eligible beneficiaries. In addition, w.e.f. 21st May, 2022, Government has started a targeted subsidy of Rs. 200 per 14.2 Kg cylinder for Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY) beneficiaries for upto 12 refills a year for years 2022-23 and 2023-24.
