CGHS Participants To Receive Cashless Care At These Six AIIMS
On Saturday (May 21), the Union Health Ministry announced that the All India Institutes of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Bhopal, Bhubaneswar, Patna, Jodhpur, Raipur, and Rishikesh will now provide cashless care to all CGHS patients.
Concerning the Central Government Health Scheme (CGHS), the authorities and these six AIIMS have signed a memorandum of understanding to provide cashless care.
According to the ministry, “CGHS users shall be provided with patient care services available at six fully operational AIIMS in Bhopal, Bhubaneswar, Patna, Jodhpur, Raipur, and Rishikesh on a cashless basis. It will be especially helpful for senior citizens (CGHS retired pensioner beneficiaries) who find it difficult to submit individual reimbursement claims and follow-up approvals.”
The CGHS beneficiaries will benefit from having access to cutting-edge treatment facilities at these AIIMS without having to worry about paying first and then requesting reimbursement from CGHS. According to the ministry, this approach will decrease paperwork, save time, and prevent delays in the resolution of individual claims.
Until now, CGHS elderly recipients who sought treatment at AIIMS had to pay upfront before requesting reimbursement from CGHS.
The key components of this project state that the CGHS retirees and other entitled CGHS beneficiaries will be qualified for cashless treatment in OPD, investigations, and indoor treatment at these six AIIMS.
These six AIIMS must send credit bills to CGHS, which must preferably make payments within 30 days of receiving the bills, on behalf of retirees and other qualified beneficiaries. The recipient may only be admitted for treatment at AIIMS upon presentation of a valid ID card.
Additionally, AIIMS will establish a separate helpline and accounting system for CGHS beneficiaries. The beneficiaries would collect the medications recommended by the doctors at AIIMS through CGHS for OPD treatment or at the time of discharge from AIIMS.
