Provision of Medicines through Jan Aushadhi Kendras
350. SHRI GOPAL JEE THAKUR:
Will the Minister of CHEMICALS AND FERTILIZERS be pleased to state:
(a) whether medicines are being provided to the people at lower prices through Pradhan Mantri Jan Aushadhi Kendras (PMJAKs);
(b) whether the benefits of the said scheme has not reached the common people due to the indifferent attitude of the officers in Darbhanga as the applications for opening Jan Aushadhi Kendras have been delayed without any reason;

(d) the details of functional Pradhan Mantri Jan Aushadhi Kendras in Darbhanga and the efforts being made to open more centres there?

Statement referred to in reply to parts (a) to (d) of the LOK SABHA STARRED Q.NO. 350 (10th POSITION) for answer on 24.03.2023 raised by SHRI GOPAL JEE THAKUR regarding Provision of Medicines through Jan Aushadhi Kendras With an objective of making quality generic medicines available at affordable prices to the citizens, especially the poor and the deprived ones, Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Janaushadhi Pariyojana (PMBJP) has been launched by the Government. Under the Scheme, dedicated outlets known as Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Janaushadhi Kendras (PMBJKs) are opened to provide quality generic medicines at affordable prices. The price of Jan Aushadhi Medicines under the scheme are cheaper at least by 50% and in some cases by 80% to 90% than the market price of branded medicines.
Pharmaceuticals & Medical Devices Bureau of India (PMBI), the Implementing Agency of the Scheme invites/ accepts applications for opening of Kendras through online mode. The examination of these applications are done in a transparent manner as per the laid down guidelines, which are available on the website of PMBI (www.janaushadhi.gov.in). As per records readily available, no complaint about delay in processing of applications of Darbhanga district has been received.
Further, till 28.02.2023, 9 PMBJKs have been opened in Darbhanga district of Bihar. PMBI has recently invited applications from districts having relatively less coverage of Kendras. In response, 8 applications from Darbhanga districts have been received by PMBI.
