New Kendriya Vidyalayas in Jharkhand for the benefit of rural people

Will the Minister of EDUCATION be pleased to state:

(a) whether any request has been made by the Government of Jharkhand to the Central Government to open new Kendriya Vidyalayas (KVs) across the State for the benefit of rural people;

(b) if so, the details thereof including the status thereof; and

(c) the status of establishment of new Kendriya Vidyalayas (KVs) in Jharkhand, district-wise?

(a) to (c) Opening of new KVs is a continuous process. KVs are opened primarily to cater to the educational needs of the wards of transferable Central Government Employees including Defence & Para-military personnel, Central Autonomous Bodies, Central Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) and Central Institute of Higher Learning (IHL) by providing a common programme of education throughout the country. Proposals for opening of new KVs may be sponsored by Ministries or Departments of the Government of India / State Governments / Union Territories (UTs) Administrations, with commitment to provide requisite resources including land and temporary accommodation for setting up a new KV as per norms. The proposals are subject to approval of the competent authority. At present, 41 KVs are functioning in the State of Jharkhand.

As per information received from Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS), 03 proposals for establishment of new KVs at Doranda (Giridih), Dumri (Giridih) and Barkatha (Hazaribagh) have been received from the State Government of Jharkhand. In addition, a proposal for KV at Railway Barwadih (Latehar) in Jharkhand has been received from Railways. These proposals for establishment of new KVs are subject to approval of the competent authority.
