Will the Minister of FISHERIES, ANIMAL HUSBANDRY AND DAIRYING मत्स्यपालन, पशुपालन और डेयरी मंत्री be pleased to state:
(a) the total amount of funds allocated/released and utilized under Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY) during the last three years;
(b) the increase in fish production since the implementation of PMMSY in May 2020; and
(c) the fresh steps taken by the Government for transforming the fisheries sector and also to bring out sustainable fisheries and aquaculture and economic revolution through Blue Revolution in the country?

(a) to (c) : The Department of Fisheries, Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying under “Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY)” during the last two financial years (2020-21 and 2021-22) and the current financial year (2022-23) has accorded approvals to the proposals of 35 States/Union Territories and other Implementing agencies amounting to Rs. 12035.07crores with central share of Rs. 4536.36 crore. Out of the central funds of Rs. 2103.42 crore released to various States/UTs and other implementing agencies during the above said period, an amount of Rs. 1122.68 crore has been utilized under PMMSY, as reported by the States/UTs/Other Implementing agencies. The overall fish production in the country reached an all-time high at 162.48 lakh tonne in 2021-22 from 141.63 lakh tonne in 2019-20 recording a cumulative growth of 14.72% during the last three years.
Foreseeing the immense potential, the Government of India has taken up several initiatives to harness the potential of fisheries and aquaculture sector in a sustainable and responsible manner and to realize the better economic returns. The initiatives inter-alia include (i) implementation of a flagship scheme Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY) with an investment of Rs.20,050 crore for a period of five years with effect from the financial year 2020-21 to 2024-25 in all States/Union Territories(UTs),
(ii) creation and implementation of a dedicated fund namely, Fisheries and Aquaculture Infrastructure Development Fund’ (FIDF) with a total fund size of Rs.7,522.48 crore for providing concessional finance for creation of fisheries infrastructures and (iii) extending the facility of Kisan Credit Card (KCC) to fisheries farmers to meet their working capital needs.
