Will the Minister of WOMEN AND CHILD DEVELOPMENT be pleased to state:
a. whether  the  Union  Government  has  given  approval  to  open  more  Anganwadi Kendras, if so, the details thereof during the last two years, State/UT-wise;

b. the number of the Anganwadi Kendras across the country which do not have their own building as on date, State/UT-wise;

c. the steps being taken by the Union Government to provide building of their own to each Anganwadi Kendra;

d. whether  the  Union  Government  is  contemplating  the  construction  of  Anganwadi Kendras in cities on the lines or rural areas across the country; and

e. if so, the details thereof?

(a) There is no  proposal  under  Consideration  for  opening  of  new  Anganwadi Centres.  Presently, there are 7074 projects and 14 lakh approved Anganwadi Centres.
(b) The statement containing the number of operational Anganwadi Centres functioning in Government owned buildings, community buildings and rented premises is placed at Annexure.
(c) to (e) A total of 50,000 AWCs (@10,000 AWCs per year) to be constructed under convergence with MGNREGS for a five year period ending FY 2025-26. As part of sustained engagement with States/ UTs for effective implementation of the Anganwadi Services on the ground, review meetings to address the gaps and improving infrastructure are taken on a regular basis. Keeping in view the escalation of rates of construction materials and wages (skilled/ semi skilled, unskilled), the cost of construction of AWC buildings under convergence with MGNREGA has been revised to Rs.12.00 lakh per AWC of out of Rs.8.00 lakh would be provided under MGNREGS, Rs.2.00 lakh under 15th Finance Commission funds (any other untied funds) and Rs.2.00 lakh by MWCD per AWC to be shared between Centre and States/UTs in the prescribed cost sharing ratio.
