Will the Minister of DEFENCE be pleased to state:
(a) the number of Sainik Schools established since 2016, year-wise and State/UT-wise;
(b)
the reason for not opening any new Sainik School in Karnataka;
(c) whether any communication has been sent to the Government of Karnataka regarding opening of the Sainik School in the State; and
(d) if so, the details thereof alongwith the response received in this regard?
ANSWER
MINISTER OF STATE (SHRI AJAY BHATT) IN THE MINISTRY OF DEFENCE
(a): A total of 08 Sainik Schools have been established since 2016 on erstwhile pattern. The details of these schools year-wise and State/UT-wise is at Annexure-A. Under the new initiative of setting up of 100 New Sainik Schools in partnership mode with Private/NGOs/State Governments, Sainik Schools Society have signed Memorandum of Agreement with 18 New Sainik Schools. The details of these New Sainik Schools is at Annexure-B.
(b) to (d): Two Sainik Schools namely Sainik School Bijapur and Sainik School Kodagu under erstwhile pattern of Sainik Schools are already functioning in the State of Karnataka. Further, under the new initiative of setting up of 100 New Sainik Schools in partnership mode with NGOs/Private/State Government Schools, two new Sainik Schools have been opened in the State of Karnataka namely Sangolli Rayanna Sainik School, Belagavi and Viveka School of Excellence, Mysuru.
