ANSWER
MINISTER OF AGRICULTURE AND FARMERS WELFARE
(SHRI NARENDRA SINGH TOMAR)
(a) to (d): Bhartiya Parakritik Krishi Paddhati (BPKP) under Paramparagat Krishi Vikas Yojana (PKVY) is being implemented since 2020-21 to promote non chemical farming using traditional indigenous practices relying on on-farm bio- mass recycling with major stress on bio- mass mulching, use of cow dung- urine formulations and other plant based preparations.
Since chemical fertilizers and pesticides and other off farm inputs are not used under BPKP, it is estimated that the total cost of production is drastically reduced for farmers on account of savings on these components. Further, on farm resource management also provide economic benefits to farmers. Under BPKP, financial assistance of Rs 12200/ha for 3 years is provided for cluster formation, capacity building and continuous handholding by trained personnel, certification and residue analysis.
The BPKP scheme is being implemented in the states of Andhra Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Kerala, Odisha, Madhya Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and Himachal Pradesh and 4.09 lakh hectare areas has been approved for Natural Farming under BPKP. Rs.55.99 crores have been released to these States. However, no formal study has been conducted to access the reduction in production cost and impact of the scheme on overall growth of farmers practicing Natural Farming under BPKP.
