285 Flats Vacant In Housing Projects Under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana
Pune, 14th October 2022: Under the Central Government’s ambitious Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana’s, ‘Housing for All’ scheme, the work of the five housing projects in Pune is currently going on at full speed.
80 per cent of all the housing projects have been completed and the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has planned to hand over all the flats by March 2023. Meanwhile, a total of 285 flats are lying vacant in five housing projects.
On Thursday (October 13), Additional Commissioner Ravindra Binwade inspected the flats in the Vadgaon Khurd area. City Engineer Prashant Waghmare, Superintending Engineer Yuvraj Deshmukh, Head of Electricity Department Srinivas Kandul, and Executive Engineer Bipin Shinde were present on the occasion.
The five housing projects under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana are underway on behalf of the PMC at Hadapsar, Kharadi, Vadgaon Khurd. The land for these projects has been made available free of cost by the Municipal Corporation.
Under this, 2,918 flats were first allotted through an online lottery. However, due to personal problems of citizens, non-approval of loan cases due to lack of source of income, non-preferred location, etc, the registration of many flats were cancelled by the eligible beneficiaries during the Covid-19 pandemic.
However, the applications were invited from citizens for the remaining and cancelled flats after the first online draw and on a first come first served basis. An online lottery was conducted for vacant flats. Currently, 285 flats are vacant in the five projects. The verification process of documents of citizens on the waiting list for these vacant flats is in progress.
All the housing projects are in prime locations in the city and the area of the flats is around 300 sq ft to 330 sq ft. Various high-quality facilities will be provided to the flat holders. The works of all these flats have been 80 per cent completed and it is planned to hand over the flats by March 2023.
