Will the Minister of HEALTH AND FAMILY WELFARE be pleased to state:
(a) whether the duration of insurance scheme for health workers fighting COVID-19 has been extended further under the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Package(PMGKP);
(b) if so, the details thereof;
(c) the number of claims of health worker settled across the country who died while being on COVID-19 related duty since the inception of the scheme; and
(d) the number of claims settled so far under the scheme in Rajasthan and Gujarat States, district wise?

(a) to (d): Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Package (PMGKP): Insurance Scheme for Health Workers fighting COVID-19 is implemented with effect from 30th March 2020 to provide an insurance cover of Rs. 50 lakh for providing comprehensive personal accident/ life insurance cover to a total of around 22.12 lakh public healthcare providers, including community health workers who may have to be in direct contact and care of COVID19 patients and who may be at risk and impacted by this.
As per the conditions laid down under the scheme, private hospital staff/retired/ volunteer/local urban bodies/contract/daily wage/ad-hoc/outsourced staff requisitioned by states/central hospitals/autonomous hospitals of central/states/UTs, AIIMS & Institute of National Importance (INI)s/hospitals of Central Ministries specifically drafted for care of COVID-19 patients are also covered under the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Package. The insurance policy is extended till 15th October, 2022.
The claims of 2075 health workers are settled across the country from the inception of the scheme.
The district wise list of claims settled in Gujarat and Rajasthan is attached at Annexure.
