IT Park housing scheme of Chandigarh Housing Board awaits eco-clearance
(CHB) for the general housing scheme to come up at IT Park, the board is yet to get environmental clearance for the project.
The board applied for environmental clearance for the IT Park general housing scheme in February. It got approvals for structure, public health, electrical, town planning and architecture from departments concerned. All these points were assessed by the urban planning and engineering departments.
Sources said that the UT environment panel had asked for certain parameters which needed to be adopted and followed by the board. Before issuing environment clearance, the panel will ensure all these parameters and undertaking from CHB, sources said.
Recently, the urban planning and engineering departments of the UT administration approved a plan to construct 728 flats under the general housing scheme on around 16.6 acres of land in two pockets at IT Park for Rs 643 crore.
The scheme, which was approved by the CHB board of directors in December 2020, will have 728 flats. Although exact rates of flats are yet to be decided, the tentative cost ranges between Rs 1.5 crore and Rs 2.75 crore. The project land is part of 123 acres that CHB got back from Parsvnath Developers after a long drawn out legal battle.
Former UT administrator V P Singh Badnore gave the go ahead to its design in July last year but the project could not take off due to the pandemic. The project report was placed before the board of directors in the December 2020 meeting and in-principle approval was granted.
