9 lakh women in Gujarat given assistance under Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana
He added that assistance of Rs 400 crore has been extended under the scheme till date.
On the occasion of laying the foundation stone of various development projects worth Rs 21,000 crore here, PM Modi said that the government is keen on working for women empowerment.
He added that women have been given freedom from smoke with fuel gas. They have been relieved from carrying water on their heads with tap connections at their homes.
“We have given respect to women by building toilets in every house.”
The problem of malnutrition in Gujarat, two decades ago, have been effectively eradicated with the government schemes, the PM added.
Gujarat, through Doodh Sanjeevani Yojana, Iodized Salt, Take Home Ration, Purna Yojana, Fortified Atta – has nurtured women and their progeny hence effectively tackling the challenge of malnutrition, he said.
The Prime Minister said that in Gujarat, 14 lakh children of Anganwadis have been provided with fortified flour and 12 lakh adolescent girls in the age group of 14 to 18 years have been provided good nutritious food under Purna Yojana.
“With positive results obtained from the pilot implementation of ‘Poshan Sudha Yojana’, its implementation has been started by the Gujarat government in all the 14 tribal districts of the state, which will benefit 1.36 lakh women of the state” said the PM.
He said that with e-Mamta project, the health of women and children is monitored on real time basis through the application.
Electric gadgets have been given to 11.50 crore Anganwadi workers and Asha workers in country including 12 lakh in Gujarat. Moreover, to bring awareness about the subject, the month of September is celebrated as Nutrition Month.
