Target for Opening up of Janaushadhi Centres by 2025

Will the Minister of CHEMICALS AND FERTILIZERS be pleased to state:
(a) whether the Government has set a target to open 10,500 Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Janaushadhi Pariyojana Centres across the country by March 2025 and apprised the State Governments including the State of Bihar in this regard;
(b) if so, the details thereof along with the request/ proposal received from Bihar for opening of PMBJK;
(c) whether it is a fact that the Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Janaushadhi Pariyojana (PMBJP) Centres working in the State of Bihar are not sufficient in number to meet the requirement of the rural people;
(d) if so, the details thereof, district-wise;
(e) whether the Government has identified any places for opening new PMBJP centres in the State of Bihar including district Gopalganj; and
(f) if so, the efforts being made to set up the centres in Bihar?

(a) & (b): Yes Sir, under Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Janaushadhi Pariyojana (PMBJP), the Government has set a target to open 10,500 Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Jan Aushadhi Kendras (PMBJKs) by March 2025 across the country. However, no state-wise targets have been fixed under the scheme.
Department of Pharmaceuticals and the Pharmaceuticals & Medical Devices Bureau of India (PMBI), the implementing agency of the scheme, communicates on regular basis at various levels with the State Governments/ UT administrations, including the State of Bihar, for expediting opening of PMBJKs in government premises. As a result of the said efforts, the Department of Medical Health & Family Welfare, Government of Bihar has recently entered into an MoU with PMBI on 14.02.2022 for opening of 200 PMBJKs in Primary Health Centers (PHCs)/ Community Health Centers (CHCs)/ Government Hospitals and other suitable locations.
(c) & (d): As on 28.02.2022, about 286 PMBJKs have been opened in the State of Bihar covering all districts of the State. District-wise list of PMBJKs in Bihar is enclosed as Annexure.
(e) & (f): The identification of PHCs/ CHCs/ Government Hospitals, etc. for opening of PMBJKs is to be done by the State Government as part of the MOU signed with them. PMBI has also called up applications from eligible entrepreneurs for opening of PMBJKs in districts which have less coverage, which include 14 districts in Bihar.
