PENSION SCHEME
2155. SHRI BASANTA KUMAR PANDA
Will the Minister of RURAL DEVELOPMENT be pleased to state
(a) whether the Government is implementing any pension scheme for widows, senior citizens and unemployed people living Below Poverty Line(BPL);
(b) if so, the details thereof;
(c) the details of the fund allocated, sanctioned and utilized under the said scheme during the last three years and the current year, State/UT-wise; and
(d) whether the Government proposes to double the amount allocated under the said scheme and if so, the time by which it is likely to be implemented?

(a) & (b): Under the National Social Assistance Programme (NSAP), monthly pension at the rate of Rs.300/- per month to widows and disable persons in the age group of 40 to 79 years and 18 to 79 years respectively and Rs.200/- per month to old age persons in the age group of 60 to 79 years belonging to below poverty line households is being paid. The amount of pension is increased to Rs. 500/- per month in respect of these beneficiaries on reaching the age of 80 years. There is no provision of pension to unemployed persons living below poverty line.
(c) The State/UT-wise details of funds allocated, sanctioned and utilized under the said scheme during the last three years and the current year is given at Annexure.
