BENEFICIARIES UNDER ONE NATION ONE RATION CARD SCHEME

Will the Minister of CONSUMER AFFAIRS, FOOD AND PUBLIC DISTRIBUTION be pleased to state:
(a) whether it is a fact that the Government has introduced the ‘One Nation One Ration Card’ scheme (ONORC) to allow beneficiaries to access food entitlements from anywhere in India irrespective of the place where the ration card is registered;
(b) if so, the number of beneficiaries of ONORC; and
(c) the details of States that have implemented ONORC scheme?

(a): Yes Sir. The Government has implemented One Nation One Ration Card (ONORC) plan for nation-wide portability of the ration cards under National Food Security Act (NFSA). The ONORC plan empowers all NFSA beneficiaries, particularly migratory beneficiaries, in the country to lift their entitled food grains from any Fair Price Shop (FPS) of their choice anywhere in the ,country by using their existing/same ration card with biometric authentication on an electronic Point of Sale (ePoS) devices installed at the FPS.
(b) & (c): Presently, the ONORC plan is enabled in 35 States/UTs covering about 77 Crore beneficiaries (approx. 96.8% of NFSA population) in the country. State/UT-wise beneficiaries covered under ONORC is at Annexure.
