Will the Minister of Minority Affairs be pleased to state:
(a) whether the Government is contemplating opening up of Garib Nawaz Skill Development Centres across the country, including Maharashtra;
(b) if so, the details thereof;
(c) whether any such centers have already been opened in the State of Maharashtra, if so, the details thereof; and
(d) the opportunities and facilities being offered under this programme?

(a) to (d): The Maulana Azad Education Foundation (MAEF) an Autonomous body under Ministry of Minority Affairs, Govt. of India, administers the Scheme of Gharib Nawaz Employment Scheme (GNES) formally known as “Gharib Nawaz Skill Development Training for Minorities” from the year 2017-18 with the objective to provide short term job oriented skill development courses to minorities’ youth in order to enable them for skill based employment. This scheme is implemented as per common norms issued by the Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship (MSD&E) through the empanelled Program Implementation Agencies (PIAs). The Scheme targets especially the school dropouts amongst minority youths to gain sustainable employment opportunities. Under the Scheme opportunities and facilities are provided to trainees viz. stipend, Government approved certificates, study material along-with equipments etc. As per information provided by MAEF, there are 370 Garib Nawaz Skill Development Centers opened across the country including the State of Maharashtra. Details thereof are given at Annexure-I. The details of Training Centers opened and functional under GNES in the State of Maharashtra are given at Annexure-II.
Apart from the above, Ministry of Minority also implements the following skill development programmes:
i. Seekho Aur Kamao- Skill development scheme for youth of 14-35 years age group and aiming at providing employment and employment opportunities, improving the employability of existing workers, school dropouts etc.
ii. USTTAD (Upgrading the Skills and Training in Traditional Arts/Crafts for Development). An effective platform to provide self-employment, market and opportunity to traditional artisans and craft persons from the Minority Communities. Hunar Haat are being organized across the Country to provide employment opportunities and markets to artisans/craftsmen.
iii. Nai Manzil- A scheme for formal school education & skilling of school dropouts or educated in community educational institutions like Madarsas.
iv. Nai Roshni- Leadership development of women belonging to minority communities and non-minority communities (not exceeding 25% of each batch).
Since inception, total Number of beneficiaries under USTTAD is 23,760, Seekho Aur Kamao is 4.57 Lakh and Nai Manzil is 93485.
