Employment oriented schemes
Will the Minister of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises be pleased to state:
(a) whether Government has approved any employment oriented scheme in order to provide employment in villages;
(b) if so, the details thereof; and
(c) the details of villages included under the said scheme and the quantum of expenditure incurred under the same, State-wise?

(a) to (c): The Ministry of MSME is implementing Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP), a programme aimed at generating self-employment opportunities through establishment of micro-enterprises in the non-farm sector by helping traditional artisans and unemployed youth in rural and urban areas. Under the scheme, beneficiaries can avail loan up to Rs. 25 lakh in the manufacturing sector and Rs. 10 lakh in the service sector, with Margin Money (MM) subsidy of 15% to 35% for different categories. Around 80% of these micro units are set up in rural areas. All the villages across the country are included under PMEGP.
Under the Scheme, since inception in 2008 and up to 31st July, 2021, about 7.06 lakh micro units have been assisted with subsidy of Rs.16,847Crore and providing estimated employment to about 58 lakh youths. Details of subsidy disbursed, number of units set up and estimated employment generated State-wise under PMEGP during the last three years and current year (up to 31.07.2021) is given at Annexure – I.
Ministry of Rural Development is implementing Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (Mahatma Gandhi NREGS), which is a demand driven wage employment programme and provides for the enhancement of livelihood security of the households in rural areas of the country by providing at least one hundred days of guaranteed wage employment in every financial year to every household whose adult members volunteer to do unskilled manual work. States/UT-wise number of Gram Panchayats covered under Mahatma Gandhi NREGS is given at Annexure-II. States/UTs-wise central fund released and expenditure incurred by the States/UTs under Mahatma Gandhi NREGS in last financial year 2020-21 and current financial year 2021-22 (as on 01.08.2021) is given at Annexure- III.
