[post_ads]
(c) if not, the reasons therefor?
(SHRI PIYUSH GOYAL)
(a) to (c): Ministry of Railways is implementing two Dedicated Freight Corridors (DFCs) namely Eastern DFC (Ludhiana-Dankuni, 1875 kms.) and Western DFC (Dadri to Jawaharlal Port Terminal, 1506 Kms.). Eastern DFC between Ludhiana-Sonnager (1337 Kms.) and entire Western DFC are targeted for commissioning in phases by June, 2022. Sonnagar- Dankuni (538 Kms.) section has been planned for execution on Public Private Partnership (PPP).
By segregating the freight traffic, DFC is expected to transform the freight transportation scenario in its catchment area. On complete commissioning of DFCs, it will be able to offer higher transport output with faster transit of goods traffic. Further, the unit cost of freight transport is expected to be reduced resulting in reduction of Logistics cost as well. The above benefits will promote trade and Industry.
Further, the Government has short-listed following three more corridors for undertaking Detailed Project Report (DPR) :-
