ANSWER

MINISTER OF EDUCATION

(SHRI RAMESH POKHRIYAL ‘NISHANK’)

(a) to (c) Opening of new Kendriya Vidyalayas (KVs) is a continuous process. Proposals for opening of new KVs are considered only if sponsored by Ministries or Departments of the Government of India / State Governments / Union Territories (UTs) Administrations, committing resources, including land, temporary accommodation etc. as per prescribed norms of Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS) for setting up a new KV. The proposals received from various sponsoring authorities for opening of new KVs complete in all respects have to compete with other such proposals under the “Challenge Method”.

50 new Kendriya Vidyalayas (KVs) were sanctioned in the country in March, 2019 including 2 KVs viz. GC CRPF Bilaspur and Kondagaon (LWE) in the State of Chhattisgarh, 4 KVs viz. Champua, Chatrapur, Gunupur and Anandpur in the State of Odisha and 3 KVs viz. Koderma, Sarai Kelakharsawan and SER Dangoaposi in the State of Jharkhand. KVS has informed that KV Champua could not be made functional as the Sponsoring Authority i.e. State Government of Odisha has not transferred the requisite extent of land in favour of KVS.
