Sainik Schools sanctioned and running in Jharkhand

SAINIK SCHOOLS IN JHARKHAND

Will the Minister of DEFENCE be pleased to state:

(a) whether the construction of Sainik School at Thajkurangti in Godda district of Jharkhand is  yet to start;

(b) if so, names of the States including Jharkhand where the Government  proposes to open  Sainik Schools;

(c) whether the Government is aware of the number of Sainik Schools sanctioned and running in Jharkhand State and if so, the details thereof;

(d) whether the Central Government has released funds to open sainik schools; and

(e) if so, the details thereof and the reasons therefor?

(a) to (c): Ministry of Defence had accorded “in-principle” approval for establishing a Sainik School at Thakurgangti Circle, Mauza Mapahari in Godda District of Jharkhand, post site survey conducted on 14-15 May, 2018.  Sequel to the site survey,  few observations were conveyed to   the State Government by this Ministry in 2019. There has been no response from the State Government of Jharkhand, till date. At present, one Sainik School at Tilaiya is functioning in the State of Jharkhand. Details of new Sainik Schools proposed to be set up  in  the  country,  including Jharkhand, is placed at Annexure.

(d) to (e): Funds for construction of Sainik Schools, land for Sainik Schools are provided by the State Govt.
