Punjab has launched Shat Pratishat Scheme 2020-21
Shat Pratishat Scheme 2020-21 has been launched by the Punjab state government. Chief Minister Amarinder Singh has launched Mission Shat Pratishat or Mission 100% on 7 November 2020. This mission 100 percent will empower schools in the state to achieve 100% results in annual exams despite the Covid crisis. CM has also announced to create 8,393 pre-primary school teachers posts and mentioned that these posts would be filled soon by the Education Department.
Punjab Shat Pratishat Scheme 2020-21
In order to achieve 100% school results, the state govt. of Punjab has launched Shat Pratishat Scheme 2020-21. CM Captain Amarinder Singh also virtually inaugurated 1,467 smart schools in the state. PB govt. also distributed 2,625 tablets to students in 372 government primary schools. While virtually launching Mission 100%, CM was connected with teachers, students and their parents from more than 4,000 schools, Ministers, MLAs, officials and non-teaching staff through WebEx, Facebook and YouTube.
Measures for Welfare of Teaching Staff
Around 14,064 contractual teachers had been regularized by Captain led government as he listed out various measures undertaken for the welfare of the teaching staff. Moreover, Self Defence training has been imparted to female physical education teachers below the age of 50 to enable them to teach karate to all girls studying in govt. schools. CM has ordered officials to draw a detailed plan for promotion of Punjabi language and revival of Patiala Central Library which was facing acute fund shortage.
Punjabi as Official Language
CM points out that Punjabi had became the official language in Patiala in 1940 after replacing Persian. He recalled Patiala’s long-standing relationship with Punjabi. Captain’s grandfather Maharaja Bhupinder Singh had made the first Punjabi typewriter in 1938. Chief Minister even observed that Punjabi had been named the official language in Canada and the UK, where a large number of Punjabis were settled, thus giving global recognition to the language.
CM stated that “Punjabi should live and grow in the hearts and minds of every Punjabi while stressing the importance of English and other foreign languages to enable students to compete globally”. Captain Amarinder Singh also mentioned that more than 3.7 lakh students had opted for English medium in government schools.
Punjab Shat Pratishat Scheme (100%) to Strengthen Digital Education Infrastructure
Punjab Shat Pratishat Scheme aims to further strengthen the digital education infrastructure in schools through e-books, EDUSAT lectures, e-content and inline classes through Zoom App. Mission 100 percent will further boost the standards in government schools which had witnessed massive improvement in quality and performance in the past 3 years. This would be done in line with the state government’s decision to curb all malpractices in board exams.
New Smart Schools for Students
Smart Schools have large contribution in increasing the educational standards in Punjab. Chief Minister mentioned that of the total 19,107 schools in the state, around 6,832 were currently Smart Schools to which another 1,467 were added on 7 November 2020.
Around 13,859 projectors would be provided to the remaining schools in order to make them Smart Schools. In addition to this, a budgetary provision of Rs. 100 crore had been made this year for digitization of schools.
