Will the Minister of HOUSING AND URBAN AFFAIRS be pleased to state:-
(a) whether the Government is assessing the availability of houses for the homeless people and taking steps to provide temporary shelter and if so, the details thereof;
(b) the number of card holder people living below poverty line in Malda district of West Bengal have been allotted permanent/ temporary shelter during the last three years; and

(c) the details of the different amenities provided to the BPL card holder beneficiaries by the States and Union Territories including West Bengal?

(a)&(b) Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban) (PMAY(U)) provides central assistance to implementing agencies through States/ Union Territories (UTs) and Central Nodal Agencies (CNAs) for providing all weather pucca houses to all eligible families/ beneficiaries including beneficiaries of Economically Weaker Section (EWS) category in urban areas of the country with basic amenities like water, electricity and toilets etc. As per demand survey conducted under the scheme, State/UTs have reported a validated demand of 1.12 crore houses. The number of houses sanctioned and completed in West Bengal State and Malda District is as follows:-

Ministry of Housing & Urban Affairs is administering a scheme ‘Shelter for Urban Homeless’ (SUH) under Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana – National Urban Livelihoods Mission (DAY- NULM), through respective States/UTs to provide permanent shelters to the urban homeless. During last three years, 13 shelters have been made functional in West Bengal. Out of which, one shelter having capacity of 50 persons has been made functional in Malda District.

(c) No such information is available with Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs.
