 EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES IN RURAL AREAS 
4609. SHRI PRATAPRAO JADHAV: 
Will the Minister of LABOUR AND EMPLOYMENT be pleased to state: 
(a) whether the Government proposes to provide sufficient employment opportunities in the rural areas and small towns to check the migration of the rural people in large number to the metropolitan cities during the current year;

(b) if so, the details thereof; 
(c) the names of centrally sponsored schemes in this regard; and 
(d) the funds earmarked for this purpose? 
ANSWER 
MINISTER OF STATE (IC) FOR LABOUR AND EMPLOYMENT
 (SHRI SANTOSH KUMAR GANGWAR) 
(a) to (d): Ministry of Rural Development is implementing Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS) which provides at least one hundred days of guaranteed wage employment in every financial year to every rural household whose adult members, including rural youth, volunteer to do unskilled manual work. It is a demand driven wage employment programme. Funds released under the scheme during 2019-20 (as on 05.02.2020) is Rs. 6205798.55 lakh.

The Ministry of Rural Development is also implementing Start-up Village Entrepreneurship Programme (SVEP) since 2017-18 to help the rural poor to set-up enterprises at village level in non-agriculture Sector. Funds released under the scheme during 2019-20 (upto January, 2020) is Rs. 2404.79 lakhs. 
Two schemes on skill development of rural poor youth, under Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana -National Rural Livelihoods Mission (DAY-NRLM), are also being implemented by this Ministry, which are as follows:- 
  •  Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Grameen Kaushalya Yojana (DDU-GKY), which is a placement linked skill development program for wage employment. 
  •  Skill development through Rural Self Employment and Training Institutes (RSETIs) enabling a trainee to take bank credit and start his/her own Micro- enterprise. Some of such trainees may also seek regular salaried jobs. 
Fund released under Deen Dayal Upadhyaya-Grameen Kaushalya Yojana (DDU-GKY) and Rural Self Employment and Training Institutes (RSETIs) during 2019-20 (upto 15.1.2020) is Rs. 138904.645 lakh and Rs. 651.87 lakh respectively.
