Delhi Govt. to Implement Ayushman Bharat – PM Jan Arogya Yojana from FY 2020-21
Delhi government has announced to implement the central govt’s flagship Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY) on 23 March 2020. The state govt. will now provide cashless and paperless treatment of upto Rs. 5 lakh per family per year to all AB-PMJAY beneficiaries. People would be able to avail free health insurance coverage in all govt. and private empanelled hospitals. The state govt. has changed its stance on the enforcement of the Ayushman Bharat Yojana for treatment of people in the national capital.

Deputy CM and Finance Minister has made the announcement of Ayushman Bharat Scheme implementation while presenting the Delhi budget 2020-21 in the assembly. All the insured people can make claims for treatment in all empanelled hospitals and avail treatment at NHPM Treatment Package Rates.

The Ayushman Bharat Yojana Family letter would now be given to the identified families who are the beneficiaries of PM Jan Arogya Yojana in Delhi. The call center facility at 14555 would be open for the AB-PMJAY beneficiaries. The Ayushman Bharat Yojana will provide health insurance cover of upto Rs. 5 lakh for secondary and tertiary hospitalization. The official website for AB-PMJAY Scheme is pmjay.gov.in. Across the country, Ayushman Bharat will cover 10.74 crore poor and vulnerable families as per the Socio-Economic Caste Census (SECC) 2011 Data.
The Ayushman Bharat Yojana in Delhi will include 1,400 pre-defined packages spread over 23 specialties. PMJAY scheme had been rolled out for the bottom 40% of poor and vulnerable population across the country. The inclusion of households is based on the deprivation and occupational criteria of the Socio-Economic Caste Census 2011 (SECC 2011) for rural and urban areas respectively.
This initiative has been designed to meet Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and to complete commitment of “leave no one behind”. Ayushman Bharat is an attempt to move from sectoral and segmented approach of health service delivery to a comprehensive need-based health care service. This schemes aims to undertake path breaking interventions to holistically address the healthcare system (covering prevention, promotion and ambulatory care) at the primary, secondary and tertiary level. Ayushman Bharat adopts a continuum of care approach.

The announcement to implement Ayushman Bharat PM Jan Arogya Yojana in Delhi comes at a time when India has stepped up efforts to contain the novel coronavirus outbreak. FM Manish Sisodia presented the annual budget of Rs. 65,000 crore in Delhi for FY 2020-21. Moreover, Dy. CM also announced that electricity subsidy scheme will continue in the next financial year and a total of Rs. 2,028 crore has been outlined for the same.
